王素敏（刘莉莉 饰）独自抚养两个女儿刘小敏（周迅 饰）、刘小捷（唐艺昕 饰）长大，没想到女儿们年过三十却先后离婚。大女儿刘小敏因丈夫出轨，从小地方来到北京打拼，她和同样离过婚的陈卓（黄磊 饰）相识相知。但小敏和陈卓都有着不省心的前任、青春期的孩子和年过花甲的老人，如何获得对方家人的认可，融入彼此的生活，成为两人 不易克服的难关。二女儿刘小捷一婚时糊里糊涂，因性格不合与丈夫离婚，本不想再婚却遇到青年才俊徐正，被男方认真追求，但徐正比小捷年龄小，也还没结过婚，两人的恋爱受到徐正父母的强烈反对。刘小敏和刘小捷在母亲的教导下，用爱和宽容解决感情里的难题，最终都找到了人生的幸福，收获了成长。
