    It's the Tan's anniversary this week and Dolly's invited her sister, Abigail, from Taiping, as well as Teck's mother for dinner. Her family has always thought Abigail a little strange - she's very shy, extremely sensitive, and tends to cry a lot. Thank goodness she's only coming for dinner ! But Abigail shows up five days early and the Tan have a hard time coping with her and her strangeness.

    Two business students from Australia are coming to Singapore as part of the AIESEC exchange programme. Ronnie expects them to be moneymad wheeler-dealers like him but they turn out to be a different kettle of fish altogether. Meanwhile, Denise's relief teacher from school, Miss Boo, meets up with Michael and develops a strong attraction for him. Michael doesn't take her seriously but Miss Boo has other ideas on her mind.

    Ronnie plots revenge on his Australian friends and Graham, in particular, doesn't take too kindly to his tactics. At the same time, Flora appears to be quite adventurous in her food preferences despite being a vegan. Meanwhile, Miss Boo has been stalking Michael and pressures him into saying "I do". He thinks the woman has one screw loose and despite all his efforts, he just can't seem to shake her off.

    Teck's secondary school sweetheart, Suzie Sim Bee Lian pays an unexpected visit. Teck is happy with the reunion but Dolly is jealous of Suzie's success in life, and thinks Teck wants to take up with his old flame again. Dolly's powerful imagination is matched by Ronnie's fervent desire for Teck to sell his minimart for an unbelievable amount of money.

    This is the biggie that closes the sitcom's first season. Paul joins the contest to end all contests, finding the letters printed behind Guinness Stout labels to make up the name 'Sally Yeh'. And he wins the grand prize - high tea with the real Sally Yeh ! Not to be outmatched by Paul's zeal, Daisy is just as tenacious in clinching an advertising account. The Tan family takes a break and comes back with its second season.

Season 2

  • S02E01 Tis The Season To Be Jolly

    The Christmas spirit comes to Bishan and hits the Tan family in a big way. As Dolly gets right into the swing of things much to Teck's bewilderment, Ronnie transforms the festive season into a commercial venture. Denise is determined to make a difference and organizes a Christmas party for orphaned children. To add to the mayhem, Paul gets romantically involved, without even trying.

    Daisy goes out one evening and doesn't come home till five a.m. Michael's furious with her for not informing him. He thinks a girl like her with a zero love-life should be in bed by ten every night. He jumps to the conclusion that she did something wrong. They have a big argument and he decides to move out since Daisy won't listen to him.

    Denise is so used to doing well at everything in school that she gets complacent and fails to win a major essay competition. She takes it badly and decides to run in the 'Councillor Of The Year" elections at school. But will her desire to win be so strong that she forgets what's right and what's wrong ? Ronnie hopes to get a vacation internship with a multinational company and sends out a resume that's thicker than the phone book. Paul thinks he has a boil on his nose and blows that whole thing out of proportion.

    Dolly' meets her old boyfriend, Jimmy Chan, for the first time in years and invites him over for dinner. Teck gets a little jealous of all the attention Jimmy lavishes on Dolly. Jimmy still carries a torch for Dolly and he's not afraid to make his feelings known to her. After all, they never got to kiss before breaking up and he's still got that kiss on his list. Meanwhile, Michael's been whining to Paul about his latest girlfriend problem. It gets worse for Paul when he's stuck in a car with a flat tire in the pouring rain with Michael and Ronnie and he can't escape.

    The Tans find they are short on cash. Paul wants to start a business and wants to buy a new car. They ultimately take on the challenge of the Pyramid Game for the chance to make a quick buck.

    When Yusof takes Rosnah to Bali for her birthday instead of Air Hitam, their usual haunt, Dolly's envious. She wants something special for her birthday but Teck suggests the same old place. Dolly, of course, is upset. At a loss, Teck turns to Paul, Ronnie and Denise for help. Meanwhile, Ronnie gets a tattoo on his arm and it can't come off. Paul and Denise try all kinds of methods to remove it for him.

    Ronnie borrows the LD player from Michael's pub. Both Denise and Paul want to use it but it's Teck who hogs it - singing what else but the same karaoke song repeatedly. Meanwhile Yusof tells Rosnah what he wants for his birthday and she promises to get it for him.

    Flyers in the HDB mailbox ! It's something everyone knows about - not least the Tans, who find themselves the recipient of scams, schemes, sales and scares found in their mailbox. Temptation and fear abound in this episode when the Tans are seduced by the thought of moving to a Semi-D, Ronnie is captivated by a dubious advertising flyer, and the whole family is threatened by a loan shark in the dark of night

    Teck is truly excited about a million dollar deal with a business partner from the mother of all markets - China ! However, Murphy's Law intervenes as problems arise from a totally unexpected quarter. Denise gets involved in the dating scene but emotional turmoil ensues. And trauma, too for Ronnie as he finds himself having to brush up on his Mandarin to attain the object of his desires.

    Michael meets Winnie, an aerobic-physiotherapist and falls helplessly and hopelessly in love with her. Ronnie worries when he finds out Winnie isn't who she's cracked up to be. Meanwhile, Winnie gives Dolly, Rosnah, Daisy and Michelle a workout they will never forget.

    The father of one of Ronnie's friends dies of a heart attack. This makes Ronnie fear for his own father. Ronnie goes overboard in showing his care and concern and this drives Teck around the bend. Denise agrees to help Daisy out with some advertising work but finds out that things aren't as they seem

    Dolly is bored when Ah Teck goes to China. So she and Rosnah take on part-time jobs. Meanwhile Daisy is ecstatic to hear that her uncle in Bombay has left her five million rupees in his will.. But wait, there's a string attached: to claim the money, she has to get married.

    Teck's in a panic. His and Dolly's thirthieth wedding anniversary is coming up. Gift-buying isn't one of his fortes and now he's got to get his wife something extra special. Teck and Dolly start to reminisce about their first meeting. Told in flashback, they talk about their first date and all the obstacles that nearly prevented them from getting married.

    It's 'flu epidemic season and the Tan household is not spared. Teck and Denise become sick. Ronnie is competing in a cross-country run and hopes he won't get it while Paul thinks of extreme and bizarre ways to ward off the viral infection. Everything comes to a head for Dolly when she has to look after the minimart, the sick and the healthy. Can she cope ?

    Yusof is worried. Not only is his mee rebus business threatened by Sam's Super mee rebus from a nearby hawker centre. This annoys Yusof even more. The rivalry between the two hawker centres intensifies as their annual football match is coming up. Yusof's team has been losing year after year and he has to do something to break the duck. It would also shut Sam up as he's been boasting that he'll beat Yusof's team ten-zero. Paul gets reservist call-up. He was a medic in NS and he can't wait to start working on bandages and first aid again. He tries to get everyone at home to be his 'patients

Season 3

  • S03E01 Love and Laksa

    Rosnah finds her long-lost recipe book, and it's chow time for everyone except Teck, who's suffering under Dolly's strict diet. Meanwhile, cool macho Ronnie Tan is taking orchid gardening. What on earth could make him do such a thing ? Or is it who ? Will Teck have to eat Dolly's boiled vegetable for the rest of his life ? Will Ronnie go to the Amazon ? And will anyone get dengue fever ?

  • S03E02 Sofa So Goodlah

    It all started innocently enough - with a fish on the dinner table. But nothing is ever the way it seems at the Tan family.   • S03E10 Blood Is Thicker Than Paint

    Time for a little face-lift at Teck's minimart. Or rather, a ceiling-lift - especially when the plaster had to fall right on Ah Teck's head. But this time, Teck decides to get help, much to the dismay of Ronnie and; Hock Seng. But help arrives from a totally unexpected quarter, in the guise of Eric, long lost relative and Morris Minor mechanic, and repairman of everything electronic. So, of course, Rosnah isn't going to let Yusof get away with not painting his Mee Rebus stall ceiling as well - despite the fact that he doesn't even have one. Compared to all this neighbour infighting, Daisy's promotion and trying to hire an assistant is nothing. It's just driving her nuts, that's all.

    Dolly makes the amazing discovery that she has a knack for palm reading. Ronnie tries to make a quick buck as she peeps into the future of her family and friends. While the cat's away, the mouse will play. Yusof's looking forward to Rosnah's holiday and has lots of exciting plans to keep himself occupied. Denise has been hit by Cupid's arrow and she has to make a painful decision between a best friend and a boyfriend.

    Ah Teck meets a childhood friend, Ah Siang, an ex-seaman working in the shipyard. Dolly is not comfortable with Ah Siang, but Ah Teck thinks she's just being paranoid. Rosnah gets an ugly bowl from Yusof's relative. She hate it and gives it to Dolly, who in turn gives it to Daisy. Then Rosnah discovers, to her horror, thaat the bowl is a valuable antique. Meanwhile, Denise gets nervous about her first 'official' date with her new boyfriend, Adam.

  • S03E13 Till Trust Do Us Part ( Part 2 )

    After Ah Siang storms out of the house in Part 1, Teck has difficulty locating Ah Siang. He doesn't answer Teck's pages or phonecalls and even drops out of the NTUC course. Teck is disappointed with Ah Siang for giving up so easily. But when Teck remembers the good old days when Ah Siang used to stand up for Teck and look after him like a younger brother, Teck realises he shouldn't give up so easily on Ah Siang, even when Ah Siang has given up on himself. Teck locates Ah Siang and manages to persuade him to go back to the Skill Redevelopment Programme, and with the help of the NTUC course co-ordinator, Ah Siang is able to retake his exams. The missing item is located and Teck feels sorry for ever doubting Ah Siang's innocence. Siang manages to come through with flying colours. AH Siang receives his certificate with tears in his eyes. Ronnie is awakened every morning at the same time by a neighbour's unusally loud alarm clock. He gets obsessed in finding out who the neighbour is.

  • S03E14 Michael Returns

    Michael returns home from Australia to attend a friend's wedding as Best Man, and also to 'rekindle' a relationship with his friend's sister whom he has a crush on while studying in Australia. Meanwhile, Daisy and Rosnah go in search for pop star in Daisy's lemondae advertisement. Lisa finally discovers it was Ronnie who sent the threatening letter. Much to Ronnie's dismay, she finds the letter, and him amusing.

  • S03E15 Of Parrots and Parades

    The Tan's kaypoh neighbour is cooking up a storm for a National Day Cook-off and Teck quickly becomes her biggest fan. Dolly smells a fish and the good fight begins ! Teck looks after his supplier's prize-winning parrot, but can't make it sing ! Is Yusof the parrot expert he claims to be ? Will Ronnie have to line up for National Day Parade tickets ?

  • S03E16 Rosnah Sings The Blues

    Rosnah gets a shot at stardom when she's offered a lucrative recording contract, and promised a world tour. It's a dream come true. But she turns it down. Denise isn't daddy's little girl anymore. Teck's against Denise having a steady boyfriend. She plans for Teck to get to know Adam better, so guess who's coming for dinner ? Dolly's spring cleaning. Teck's unhappy that she's going to give his favourite old shirt to the karung guni man.

    Ronnie gets into a mega mess when he boldly announces that Microsoft chairman Bill Gates will give the talk at the business seminar he's organising. Rosnah wants Yusof to shave off his moustache when she thinks that the moustache is making him unreliable. Daisy visits a dentist and finds him witty and charming. They go out on a date, and Daisy discovers a shocking truth about him.

    Teck plays a family counsellor to a stubborn neighbour and her well meaning son. Ronnie's waiting for replies from Fortune 500 companies for his job attachment. And much to Daisy's horror Dr. Thomas returns. Will Ronnie get on the race-track to success ? Will Dr. Thomas ever give up ?

  • S03E19 Mystery of the Midnight Ghost

    Denise's boyfriend, Adam gets spooked on a midnight military exercise in the jungle. Denise insists there must be a logical explanation. Rosnah and Yusof's son Johari, comes home for a visit and makes a big impression on Ronnie. Yusoff can't figure out how he lost two week's earnings on the way to the bank. Thank goodness Hassan's phone is ringing off the hook with calls from new babysitting customers.

  • S03E20 Crossroads - Wires Crossed

    Paul's back from a work attachment in Papua New Guinea and Dolly's thrilled to have the family all under one roof again. Only problem is, Paul's behaving more strangely than usual. Rosnah thinks it's because he's going to get married, but trying to hide it from everyone. Are wedding bells really ringing ? Ronnie decides to turn over a new leaf after Teck has a heart to heart, man to man talk with him.

At the same time, Denise and Liam are taking their relationship seriously, and Denise is even thinking of going for a holiday with Liam though she's sure she would meet with strong objection from her conservative parents. Carlos the network executive is so taken by Dolly's charm and enthusiasm that he makes her the host of the show and not Teck ! Anita is really taking to life in Perth and this upsets Paul. Michael insinuates that she may be having too good a time there and suggests Paul take revenge. Pretty soon Paul turns into a party animal. Denise returns from Scotland with the surprising news that she's broken up with Liam. There's an even bigger shock for her family when she starts dressing in an ultra-sexy way and dates four guys at the same time.

    Dolly is still trying to get used to the new Paul who was once neat, clean and hygienic and is now unwashed, grubby and a fatty food connoisseur. So pleased with his new persona, that Paul intends to send photos of himself to Anita. When a new stallholder decides to sell mee rebus, Yusof and Johari expect the new stallholder to close shop within a month, until they discover that the new stallholder is a she and a very pretty and sweet she at that. Soon falling for her charms, they find themselves helping out at their rival's store more than their own. Meanwhile, no one believes Ronnie when he says he's been dating Eunice Olsen from the Wheel of Fortune and he has to go to great lengths to prove that he's telling the truth.

His over-eagerness gets him into trouble when he decides to confront the bully only after a few classes and is beaten to a pulp again. Unhappily forced into taking karate, Paul finds himself falling for one of the students in the class, Wendy. Ronnie advises him to go for it, but Paul is unsure, until Wendy makes the first move

    Teck's been especially grumpy of late and complains about every little thing Dolly does wrong. Dolly feels unappreciated in spite of all she does to keep Teck and the children happy. Daisy thinks she knows how to alert Teck to Dolly's plight. When Denise has a new admirer in the form of one of the guys she's counseling. Ronnie tells her to be on guard as he's sure everyone who goes to the counseling centre is a pyscho. Meanwhile Ronnie has started a website that gives advice on how to get revenge called geteven.com. Business is so good that he hires Paul to work for his website until things take a wrong turn - one of Paul's clients wants to get rid of Ronnie.
