Korsa, one of the midwifes in the Ratanga health center has strenous relationships with many patients. She is not well liked by the women who visit the center. A new midwife, Assitan is joining her team.
Assitan is the new midwife of Ratanga health center. A patient offered her money during a pre-natal visit but she refused. It is then that Assitan understood that other midwifes have the habit of taking bribes before rendering any service.
A 17 year old girl visit Ratanga health center. Despite Korsa's disagreement, Assitan takes care of the young girl and, is very worried about her health. This young girl then confesses that she is victim of an arranged marriage and, that he forces her to have sexual relations with him.
Ramatou is in love with Job, a radio DJ she does not know personally. Her friend Emadé teases her about her romantic feelings. Job gets hurt and goes to Ratanga health center, followed by his fans made up several young girls including Ramatou.
Rokoba, Touli's aunt came over to babysit his daughter. After Magar leaves, she pokes around the house and discover Magar's diary. She finds out that Touli is violent and beats his wife regularly. The neighbor tells Rokoba that the couple fights often. Rokoba has a very archaic and traditional view of a relationship and, thinks Magar deserves the abuses by Touli.
When Yaye discovers that Emadé is pregnant, she advises her to sever her 8 month old daughter. Aminata who is being raped by her husband. She comes back to the health center with violent stomach aches. Assitan tries to help her.
Assitan has a pregnant patient. The woman is in pain and screams. Jean-Paul rushes to help Assitan. The woman has an allergic reaction to medecine bought on the black market. Rokoba invites the witch doctor for Emadé who is sick. He settles in her house.
Aminata's death created a furor in Ratanga. Patients want to visit the health center no longer. Assitan is depressed and does not want to go back to work. However, the witch doctor takes advantage of Rokoba et try to rape Emadé by pretending it is an exorcism. Rokoba finally finds out he is a charlatan and kicks him out of the house. Magar visit the health center with her arm broken by her husband but lies that she fell off the stairs.
Touli is chilling with his mistress who suggests to him to leave Magar and come live with him and his children. Touli asks Rokoba to come and watch over Magar. At Touli's house, Magar drugs Rokoba and runs away to her parents' village with the children.
Assitan no longer wants to work at Ratanga health's center. However, she would to like realize a consciousness-raising campaign for the youth. She talks about it to Job, the radio DJ who felt in love with her.
Yaye tells Emadé that she has a sexually transmitted infection (IST). Emadé is worried that Talla may find out. Yaya emphasizes that he must because IST are contagious. However, Emadé wonders how she got it and become suspicious of Talla. She secretly puts her medecine in Talla's meal to treat him as the same time as her.
Dr Moulaye bangs the table and asks his team to be better organized in their work of taking cares of patients. Assitan jumps in to start her project to set up meetings for discussing youth health and reproduction. All her colleagues join to help her except Korsa who thinks it is stupid.
A woman comes to the health center and asks Korsa to help her pregnant daughter have an abortion. The health center personnel work very hard to take care of Mme Sangaré, the rich patient who does not stand in line and goes before anyone else. This creates tension at the center. Yaye proposes that Magar should join the center's personnel.
Emade is not feeling well. Rokoba want to send her to the village instead of Ratanga health's center. To assist her, Talla fixes her breakfast and proposes to take care of grocery shopping at the market which, irritates Rokoba. A stranger abandons her baby at the health's center. This renders the center's evaluation to become Level 3 difficult. However, the team demonstrates its solidarity for the success of the evaluation.
Assitan catches Korsa going through Dr Moulaye's sensitive patients' files. In her revenge, Korsa sabotages the project organized by Assitan to inform young people about sexuality. Badiène plots with Magar to utilize the shop as a cover for the work at Ratanga health's center that was offered to her.
A woman has just given birth but refuse to breastfeed her baby. Magar convinces her by explaining that there is nothing better for the baby than breast milk. Rachel's father suddenly walks in during Assitan's information session and, violently drags her outside. He vocally reasoned that the information that the young receive during the session will pollute their mind.
Due to the negative rumors on Assitan's information sessions on reproduction for the youth, Dr Moulaye under pression from the committee asks Assitan to suspend her project. Assitan convinced of the importance of her work, tries to resume the sessions at her place.
Touli who emprisoned Magar at home, decides with the complicity of Rokoba to send her and the girls to the village. There, Rokoba engages a witch doctor to exorcise Magar of evil spirits. Assitan is put on leave while the center is overflowing with multiple patients.
Korsa gets harrased by her husband who reproach her for focusing only on her work. She continues to steal the medicine from the center in spite of Aisha's disapprovement. Korsa conspire with Mme Sangaré to do an illegal artificial insemination. Emadé goes to the center for her prenatal visit. Assitan uses the opportunity to give her advices on planned parenthood and suggests that she should choose a method of contraception after birth.
Magar, in the village with her daughters, unsuccessfully tries to discuss health with the local women since they cannot relate to what Magar is saying. She warns the witch doctor and worries that Rokoba wants to circumsize her daughters. Korsa takes over Assitan's task on the information sessions for the youth. However, no one shows up to the session.
Korsa's artificial insemination is successful. Emadé who is frequenting the library more gets a proposition to help the librarian and, make progress on her reading skills. Assitan finally decide to spend time with Job who has been courting her for a while.
Talla is jealous of Boubacar the librarian. Emadé gives birth to a little girl through surgery. Assitan is upset that Job is very distracted by his fame and his fans. To get himself forgiven, Job makes her proposition to host a radio show for the youth. Korsa's malversations are exposed hence she faces termination of her job.
Korsa devises a plan to prevent her termination. In the villages, Rokoba and the women finally circumsize Caro, Magar's daughter and it goes wrong.
Caro's death affects everyone at Ratanga. Emadé finally revolts against Rokoba and decides to leave her husband.
