The Nun is a spin-off of a sequel, so right off the bat you KNOW it’s gonna be good. Based on the popular Conjuring series by James Wan, the Nun takes us to Romania in 1952 to show us the origin story of… you guessed it-- The Nun. Sister Irene, Father Burke and Frenchie spend an unnecessary amount of time investigating the suicide of a nun as an EVIL nun plays super spooky pranks on them, but doesn’t kill them for some reason.
Coraline is the perfect movie for children. If your children enjoy movies where terrifying spider-needle-ladies want to rip your eyes out and replace them with buttons-- then trap your soul in their evil magic realm for so long you forget who you are. In terms of kids movies, Coraline is pretty much at the top of the list of the creepiest out there. So how did the movie come to be? Why is it is so weird and creepy? After many years of development, Shazam has joined the DCEU! Billy Batson gets chosen by a wizard to take on the mantle of Shazam and develops the ability to turn into a full-grown superhero. Well, with a lot of padding, they managed to make it work. Kind of. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies raises a lot of questions. Star Trek Into Darkness was the follow-up movie that continued the adventures of the Starship Enterprise and brought along Benedict Cumberbatch for the ride-- who they tried very hard to pretend wasn’t playing Khan. Star Trek Into Darkness raises a lot of questions. Like why did both Marcus and Khan have such convoluted plans to get what they wanted? Why did Alice Eve’s character need to be shown in her underwear? Why did they decide to swap Spock’s sacrifice for a Kirk sacrifice? How does kicking a warp core a bunch of times fix it? Why would Khan think that torpodeos would be a safe place for his family? How are people beaming to other planets and beaming explosives to other ships? How is there any tension when SUPER-BLOOD exists?!
Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Llyod as Marty McFly and Doctor Emmett Brown is an absolute cinematic classic and regarded as one of the best movies of all time. Like how is Doc Brown so lovable while also being so sketchy (animal testing, dealing with terrorists...) Why is this movie so focused on Marty’s mom trying to seduce him? Their latest movie, Soul, starring Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey, tackles the subject of what happens to the soul after we die. These are still kid’s movies, right? Soul does raise some questions though. Like what kind of injury did Joe sustain when he fell into the manhole? How is his body totally fine when he jumps back into it later? Why aren’t any of the other souls freaking out about their deaths? Is Joe really the first one to freak out and push on the wall a little? What happened to the soul of the doctor he impersonated? Or the cat for that matter? What kind of a message is that ending sending? Why is Marie Antoinette only a floating head?

The Alien franchise is a beloved horror and sci-fi staple, so naturally Hollywood tries to breathe new life into it every few years. In 2012, Ridley Scott made his return to the universe of Alien with Prometheus-- a not-quite prequel that follows a space crew as they deal with some scary alien threats called Engineers. Prometheus does raise some questions though. Like why haven’t the crew been briefed on their mission until AFTER they’ve been in cryo-sleep for several years? Why does everybody take off their helmets in an alien cave? How did they get lost in the cave with amazing mapping technology? Why did they suddenly want to touch that horrifying alien snake thing?
