某日，雜貨店老闆田大貴﹝陳錦鴻飾﹞與妻鍾碧玉﹝蘇玉華飾﹞在深山發現一個大冬瓜，貴誤打誤撞下解開了封印著大冬瓜的金鎖，一個自稱是神仙范統﹝廖啟智飾﹞的男子破瓜而出，統見玉手持金鎖，誤會玉乃恩人，願意成全他們願望，作為報答救命之恩。可是，玉以為統是妖怪，帶著貴急忙逃回家。 那邊廂，貴兄長田大富﹝廖啟智分飾﹞遇上債主追債，糾纏之間，富不慎掉下山崖。卻與統撞個正著，統當場暈倒。統醒來，卻見自己躺在床上，原來統被貴救回。統急忙出示乾坤袋中法寶解釋自己是神仙，誰知乾坤袋遺失了，統又想展示法力，卻無法可施。後經玉姐夫名醫屈基﹝蔡子健飾﹞診治，認定統墮崖之時撞傷了頭，以致神智不清，胡說八道。統別無他法，只好於貴、玉家中住下。
