Birth name: Kurt Gerson. He was a German Jewish actor, singer and film director. By 1933, Kurt Gerron had appeared in 60 films. After 1933 (Hitler's seizure of power), he fled Nazi Germany with his family, first to Paris, then to Amsterdam. After the German occupation of the Netherlands, he was imprisoned and later deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp. There he was forced to direct a propaganda film for the Nazis.
