Matthew Camp grew up in California in San Francisco area. He spent his childhood in strict religious Jehovah's Witnesses family. Camp moved to New York City at the age of twenty one and started his career as a go-go dancer. He started his movie career in indie movies, including Getting Go: The Go Doc Project, which at some part is based on his life.
