A leading Egyptian film star who was characterized by his talent, skill and ability in impersonating. Ahmad Zaky Abdul Rahman born in Zagazeeg in 1949.He was an only child to his father who died after his birth. His mother remarried hence he was brought up by his grandfather. He graduated from Zagazeeg's Crafts School where he met some actors who attended the school party and who encouraged him to study cinema. Zaky left to Cairo and joined the High Institute of Dramatic Arts. While student, he acted in the stage play “Hello Shalaby”. After his graduation with honors in 1973, he starred in very popularly successful plays; “Madrasset al-moshaghebeen i.e. The school of the rowdy bunch”, “Awladna fe London i.e. Our children in London” and “Al-‘eyaal kebret i.e. Full grown children”. “Al-ayyaam i.e. The stream of days”, “Howa wa heya i.e. Him and Her”, “Ana la aktheb wa lakenny atagammal i.e. I don’t lie..I beuatify”, “Nahr al-malh i.e. Salt river” and “Al-ragol allathy fakad thaakeratahu marratayn i.e. The man who lost his memory twice” were among the landmarks of Egyptian TV. The awards he won are uncountable so are his influencing films. Ahmad Zaky’s “Al-baree’ i.e. The innocent”, “Al-hobb fawk hadabet al-Haram i.e. Love on the pyramid’s plateau”, “Ahlaam Hend & Camelia”, “Naasser 56”, “Ard al-khowf i.e. Land of fear” and “Ma’aaly al-wazeer i.e. His Excellency the Minister” are unforgettable milestones in his fruitful career. Ahmad Zaky married former actress Haala Fouaad who gave him his only child Haitham. Died in 2005 of cancer.
