Morton Downey Jr. was a controversial television talk-show host in the late 1980s who paved the way for the Jerry Springers of the world, and also played bit parts in films and tv series. As a songwriter he is known for Because We're Young, Hearts Are Wild and Now I Lay Me Down to Cry.
