あきやまただしの原作絵本を基にNHKで2010年より放映されている、頭の上に花が咲いているはなかっぱを主人公にしたショートアニメの劇場版。やまびこ村からさらわれた母親たちを助けようと立ち上がった、はなかっぱや友人たちの冒険を通して、勇気や友情、親子のきずなを描いていく。監督は、「おでんくん」や「毎日かあさん」に携わり、テレビアニメ版の「はなかっぱ」の監督でもあるのなかかずみ。劇場版ならではのスケールアップした物語と、はなかっぱの活躍に注目。
