Antarctica is the most remote and pristine wilderness on the planet. It is a timeless and harsh land like no other. Night here can last three months and in the peak of summer the sun never sets. To understand how life can exist in this continent of snow and icebergs we must spend a year there. We discover that despite being the least habitable place on Earth, life abounds in Antarctica. Megafauna such as humpback whales and orca, massive seals and stately penguins all take the brutal conditions head on and thrive in this year on ice.
La Antártida, el continente más frío, seco y remoto de la Tierra. Su aislamiento y sus temperaturas extremas la diferencian de cualquier otro lugar del planeta. Los animales que sobreviven aquí están perfectamente adaptados a la condiciones traicioneras de la Antártida.
Antarctica is de meest afgelegen en ongerepte wildernis ter wereld. Het is een tijdloos en hard land als geen ander. De nacht kan hier drie maanden duren en in de zomer gaat de zon nooit onder. Om te begrijpen hoe het leven kan bestaan in dit continent van sneeuw en ijsbergen, moeten we er een jaar doorbrengen. We ontdekken dat ondanks dat het de minst bewoonbare plaats op aarde is, het leven in Antarctica overvloedig aanwezig is. Megafauna zoals bultruggen en orka, enorme zeehonden en statige pinguïns nemen het allemaal op tegen de meedogenloze omstandigheden en gedijen dit jaar op ijs.
