He later inspired the director to write a two-part novel "Water from the Hills". The film has two parts, the second is entitled "Ugolin" --- In front of an assembly of villagers, the rural engineer presents his analysis and his hypotheses as to the hydrometric problem which would explain the stopping of the fountain whose he water comes from a spring in the surrounding heights. For the moment, the only thing he can offer, for the inhabitants, animals and crops, is to have water delivered to the village, which does not satisfy the villagers at all. The priest announces for the next day a ceremony at the church to pray to the Lord. Manon returns to the hills. Manon surprises Ugolin there who is praying in front of a statue of the Virgin and even hears him confessing his fault, which he desires at all costs to repair.
