Jang-hwa and Heung-ryeon are abused and mistreated so badly that they die at the hands of their evil stepmother. The ghost of Jang-hwa begins appearing nightly to a local magistrate to plead for justice. But lacking solid evidence, the judge must rely on the stepmother admitting her guilt.
