Paula y su familia emigraron de el Salto, Durango, a Lomas de Poleo, en la ciudad más violenta de México: Juárez, Chihuahua. En 1998, su hija María Sagrario, fue secuestrada, violada y asesinada. Otra víctima de feminicidio. Paula sobrevive también al suicidio de su esposo Chuy, en julio de 2006. Escribe cartas con hambre y dignidad para poder permitirse el miedo, la violencia y la impunidad.
