The Joy of Living

Roma, primi anni Venti; il giovane Ulisse (Delon), si iscrive ai Fasci di combattimento, ma, entrato in contatto con una famiglia di anarchici di cui fa parte la bella Franca (Lass), si trova a doversi fingere anch'egli un membro del movimento.

Rom 1921: Der im Waisenhaus aufgewachsene, soeben aus dem Militärdienst entlassene Ulysse tritt aus Geldnot der faschistischen Partei bei. Als er einem anarchistischen Flugblattverfertiger nachstellt, lernt er dessen Tochter kennen und verliebt sich, seine politische Gesinnung ändert sich. Dennoch gerät er in Schwierigkeiten, als ihm Attentate zugeschrieben werden, die er nie durchgeführt hat.

Tras abandonar el ejército, el joven Ulises se pone a buscar trabajo. Su ingenuidad será inteligentemente utilizada por los Fossati, una familia de anarquistas.

Rome, 1921. Libéré des obligations militaires, Ulysse, au chômage et sans argent, s'engage dans le Parti Fasciste. Sa mission : localiser une imprimerie de tracts antifascistes. C'est comme ça qu'il découvre l'atelier d'Olinto Fossati, un anarchiste qui le recrute comme apprenti et qui l'accueille même au sein de sa famille. Très vite, Ulysse a de l'affection pour la fille de la maison, Franca, qui lui témoigne pour sa part une certaine antipathie. Accumulant les imprudences, il fait bientôt l'objet de la méfiance de tous...

Ulisse is a naive young man out looking for a job after being released from the army. He drops the offer he gets from a group of fascists to go in with the Fossatis, a family of anarchists (unknown to him).
