1918, at the end of WWI, in the hills of Northern Croatia... An Austro-Hungarian anti-aircraft artillery battalion, mostly consisted of demoralized Croatian Home Guards, under command of Austrian captain Freiherr Heinrich von Doringer, gives anti-aircraft support to main troops. One of the soldiers on patrol, has found a young wild hare in the woods. The destiny of the hare becomes more important to the captain, than the destiny of his own men...
