Alice is a sixteen year old girl who is accused of being a witch and causing the plague that has devastated the town, when it is revealed that Alice has been hiding her mother's infection, she is forced to see The Cleanser, a sinister figure. masked, brutally dispatch her mother. The town's preacher puts Alice through five devious trials, escaping the night before her execution into the woods until she discovers the secluded cabin of a mysterious healer, with her own troubled past and demons to contend with. He takes care of her until she regains her health and teaches her how to get revenge on those who persecuted her.
