Ike White was a musical prodigy who recorded a funk and soul classic album inside a Californian prison in 1974. Then he disappeared. 30 years later, director Dan Vernon tracked him down, only to find a trail of wives, lives and false identities that leave as many questions as answers.

1974 erschien "Changin' Times", ein außergewöhnliches Album, das unter besonderen Umständen aufgenommen worden war: Es war die erste Plattenaufnahme in einem amerikanischen Zuchthaus. Der Künstler war der US-amerikanische Musiker Ike White, der mit 19 Jahren wegen Mordes verurteilt wurde. Der Dokumentarfilm zeigt mit selten gezeigtem Archivmaterial Ike Whites Lebensweg vom Gefängnis in die Freiheit und erzählt, wie er sich immer wieder neu erfand. Ike White, ein hoch talentierter und vor Jahren umjubelter Ausnahmemusiker, lebte unter anderem Namen jahrzehntelang unerkannt in San Diego, Kalifornien. Seine dunkle Vergangenheit sollte für immer vergessen sein und seine unglaubliche Geschichte nie erzählt werden.
