The film breaks somewhat with the traditional themes in Jean-Claude Van Damme’s movies. It is a film noir, cheerless and violent. The protagonist is an antihero, struggling through life to nurture his eight-year-old daughter, and working in nightclubs as a doorkeeper to provide his income. When he gets involved in a fight, he ends up in jail, while his daughter gets placed under the care of social services. He is then asked by the police to infiltrate a criminal organization. In return, he would regain custody of his daughter.
