Der wohlhabende Geschäftsmann Ross Webster engagiert das Computergenie Gus Gorman, um seine Talente zum Zusammenbruch der Weltwirtschaft zu nutzen. Als Superman Websters Pläne vereitelt, will der ihn mit Gormans Hilfe aus dem Weg räumen. Webster setzt synthetisches Kryptonit gegen den Mann aus Stahl ein, was den Superhelden jedoch nicht tötet, sondern in einen Bösewicht verwandelt. Jetzt liegt es an Clark Kent, das Böse in seinem Inneren zu besiegen und die Welt zu retten.

Webster, Gus'u kullanarak dünyanın ekonomik sistemini alt edecek bir bilgisayar geliştirir. Kendilerine engel olabilecek tek kişi elbette Superman'dir. Gus Gorman, a chronically-unemployed ne'er-do-well, discovers he has a talent for computer programming, and is hired at the Metropolis (comics)-based conglomerate (company) Webscoe. Gus embezzles from his employer through salami slicing, bringing him to the attention of Chief executive officer Ross Webster. Webster is intrigued by Gus's potential to help him rule the world financially. Joined by sister Vera and "psychic nutritionist" Lorelei Ambrosia, Ross blackmails Gus into helping him.

Auguste Gorman, sans le sou et sans talent, se découvre un don pour l'informatique. Ross Webster, patron d'une puissante société et génie du mal à ses heures, entend utiliser son génie pour dominer le monde grâce aux ordinateurs, et détruire Superman. Ce dernier se retrouve bientôt exposé à une kryptonite artificielle qui transforme sa personnalité et en fait un être maléfique.

O programador de computadores Gus Gorman é contratado pelo magnata das finanças Ross Webster para tomar um satélite meteorológico e aniquilar as plantações de café da Colômbia. Quando Superman frustra o plano, Webster ordena Gorman a usar o satélite para localizar a criptonita. Um elemento alterado na criptonita por Gorman causa efeitos colaterais no homem de aço.
