Totò De Pasquale, mediocre sarto romano, pregusta le elargizioni promesse dalla suocera per il battesimo del figlio, ma il giorno fatidico il pupo scompare. Quando Totò apprende il tragico evento per evitare uno shock alla neo mamma si fa prestare dalla vicina un neonato e lo presenta alla moglie come il suo. In seguito accompagnato da due amici, si mette alla ricerca del bimbo scomparso.
