A semi-autobiographical story; A passionate teenage misfit (Mary) and washed up adult writer (Bobby) meet in a dingy diner. Drawn to a younger version of himself, Bobby will help Mary craft her James Joyce proposal in an ambling journey through the suburbs of "Anytown" USA. In standing up to the school bullies and reconciling a lost love, Mary will find new courage.
