On NATO mission in northern Afghanistan, German army officer Sebastian Kraus's armored vehicle badly wounds teenage village girl Nabilah. While her pre-teen brother Hassan runs for help, which father Khalil bitterly blames and slaps him for, the German troop takes her to the camp for medical assistance, which she resists frightened. Moralistic Sebastian braves his instructions to take Nabilah back to her brother. But as the father feared, the conservative Muslim villagers consider any contact with the infidels enough to bring shame on her and her family, so Sebastian's humanitarian visit isn't welcomed with gratitude but Biblical harshness.
