Newlywed Laurie Wade finds her marriage, and eventually the rest of her life, shattered by her deep-rooted psychotic behavior. She goes from brief "short-circuits" to overtly murderous behavior. The film never tries to explain the cause of her mental collapse but instead takes us into her frightening state of mind.
