La Recta Provincia évoque une province de Chiloé, la plus grande île d'Amérique du sud, où Raoul Ruiz enfant passait ses vacances en famille. Dans cette région où se concentre la moitié des histoires du Chili, entre folklore et mythe, existe aussi une organisation secrète conduite par des sorciers. Cette sorte de secte se nomme également Recta Provincia.
