La Cárcel de Ushuaia funcionó desde comienzos del siglo pasado hasta 1947, y dio lugar a la actual base naval. Ambas instituciónes son el origen de la ciudad mas austral del mundo. Para el imaginario colectivo siempre fue sinónimo de “viaje sin retorno”.
