Castel Volturno, circa trenta chilometri da Napoli. E' il 18 settembre 2008. Un commando di camorristi irrompe in una sartoria di immigrati africani. Sparano all'impazzata un centinaio di proiettili, ammazzando sei ragazzi di colore e ferendone un altro gravemente. Yussouf, un giovane immigrato, ha deciso quella stessa sera di chiudere i conti con suo zio Moses. L'uomo che lo ha convinto a venire in Italia. Promettendogli un futuro da onesto artigiano e trasformandolo invece nel cinico gestore di un giro milionario di cocaina. Invischiati nella loro storia, un altro ragazzo africano, Germain, finito per caso nel luogo della strage; la sua ragazza Asetù, che quella stessa sera canta in pubblico una canzone di Miriam Makeba; Suad, una prostituta che Yussouf sogna di riscattare dai suoi padroni.
