Kung Fu Hustle

La historia se sitúa durante el caos pre-revolucionario de los años 40 en China. Sing (Stephen Chow) es un delincuente con poca suerte decidido a entrar en el Axe Gang, uno de los clanes mafiosos más importantes de China. Para lograrlo, Sing pretende sacar dinero de los vecinos de un bloque de casas, pero pronto descubre que éstos no son lo que parecen. La banda Axe Gang acude a la zona y una serie de sucesos lleva hasta la confrontación final entre los vecinos y los delincuentes.

No meio do caos da China pré-revolucionária, um pequeno ladrão chamado Sing aspira a ser um dos sofisticados e implacáveis membros do Axe Gang, cujas atividades no sub-mundo do crime se espalham por toda a cidade. Cruzando-se por acaso com um complexo de apartamentos sobrelotado, chamado "Beco do Porco Malcheiroso", Sing tenta extorquir dinheiro a alguns inquilinos... Mas as ridículas tentativas de intimidação por parte de Sing acabam por atrair o Axe Gang para o meio da confusão, despoletando uma cadeia de eventos que acabam por levar os dois mundos a um confronto final. Só um lado pode sair vencedor e só um herói vai emergir como o maior mestre de Kung-Fu.

In Shanghai during the 1930s, Sing and his sidekick Bone aspire to join the notorious Axe Gang, which rules the town under the leadership of cold-blooded Brother Sum. One day, the two visit the Pigsty Alley—the slums of the town. Claiming to be Axe Gang members, they try to blackmail the residents there, but the Landlady chases them off. Sing, in an attempt to bluff them, throws a firecracker (which he claims is a signal to summon his gangs), which blows up the hat of a minor Axe Gang boss passing by. Sing blames the Pigsty Alley residents for throwing the firecracker. The gang boss attacks a barber, only to be struck by an unseen assailant. The remaining gangs fire the signal to summon more gangs there. Three of the tenants—Coolie, Tailor and Donut—reveal themselves to be Kung Fu masters and triumph over all of the gangs. Fearing the Axe Gang's retaliation, the Landlady quickly evicts the trio.
