Hotel waiter Fritz Groß resigns from his job because he believes that he and his aunts have made a great inheritance on Lake Wörthersee. There they mistake him for the American hotel king, Gross, whose daughter, Marion, Fritz falls in love without knowing the connections. The great heritage at Seewinkel, however, turns out to be a wet and worthless meadow by the lake.
