Leticia, una mujer de rostro desfigurado, entra a un cabaret y conoce a Gerardo, el pianista, quien le da asilo en su humilde vivienda. Gerardo consigue que el mejor cirujano plástico de México opere a Leticia, quien, con nuevo rostro, debuta en como cantante y bailarina. Agradecida y enamorada, se entrega a Gerardo, pero el nuevo dueño del lugar se encapricha con ella y hace que desilusione a Gerardo, quien dolido, compone la exitosa canción "Hipócrita".
Leticia has been severely injured on her face, after she confronts a group of gangsters, whom minutes before murdered her father. Days later, Leticia's helped by Gerardo, a talented composer who plays the piano in a cabaret called "El Cielo". The woman helps Gerardo buying groceries and cooking, and in time he'll offer Leticia to stay in his house. Gerardo's neighbour is a nice girl, secretly in love with him. The musician investigates with a plastic surgeon whether is disposed to operate Leticia, in order to recover her original face. The doctor accedes with no charge. The operation is a success, and Gerardo sees that Leticia is a quite beautiful woman. One day, Gerardo hears Leticia singing and he thinks that she could begin an artistic career in "El Cielo". Things aren't gonna be easy, because Pepe, nicknamed "Chief", is a gangster and a drug dealer, who dominates almost every cabaret in the city, except "El Cielo"
