When director Philippe Aractingi is forced to leave his motherland for the third time, the realisation dawns on him: his ancestors have been fleeing wars for five generations. Exploring his roots, Aractingi goes back to the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the creation of Israel and the Lebanese Civil War. Experimenting with a radical new film-making style, he interlaces directed scenes and archive images with video-filmed personal diaries, family photos and super 8 reels.

Cuando en julio de 2006, Philippe Aractingi se ve obligado a abandonar el Líbano por tercera vez, toma conciencia de todos los ancestros que durante cinco generaciones se han visto obligados a recorrer el mismo camino huyendo de guerras y masacres. En busca de sus raíces, Aractingi revisita la caída del Imperio Otomano, la creación de Israel y la guerra civil libanesa. Con una propuesta radical, el cineasta experimenta entrelazando secuencias específicamente filmadas para el proyecto y un gran número de materiales de archivo que mezclan video-diarios personales, fotografías de familia y metraje en Super 8.
