Profile of Theo Angelopoulos, Greece's leading director, filmed at his home in Athens. He was finishing the script for his next film 'Ulysses' gaze', which would tell the story of a filmmaker returning to his hometown in Greece after a considerable absence in the United States for a retrospective of his work. The character uses the trip as an opportunity to pursue a personal obsession, to track down the missing reels of the first film footage ever shot in the Balkans - the work of Milton and Yanaki Manaki. His journey takes him from Greece, through Albania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Romania ending in Sarajevo.
