Rodrigo, hijo de un noble castellano, combina la educación en la corte junto a su mejor amigo Sancho y primogénito del Rey, con las furtivas visitas a su amada Gimena. Sin embargo, tras la muerte del Rey Fernando, Rodrigo se ve envuelto en conspiraciones que acabarán con la vida de Sancho y la coronación del infante Alfonso. Alejado de su hogar y en un esfuerzo por reclamar el perdón de su Rey y recuperar el amor de Gimena, Rodrigo descubre los profundos valores universales de la amistad y el honor.

Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar was a Castilian knight and warlord in medieval Spain. Fighting with both Christian and Muslim armies during his lifetime, he earned the Arabic honorific al-sīd, which would evolve into El Cid ("the lord"), and the Spanish honorific El Campeador ("the valiant").
