Bram Stoker's Dracula

Anno 1462: dopo aver conquistato Costantinopoli i turchi dilagano in Europa, minacciando il mondo cristiano. Il cavaliere Vlad Ţepeş, conosciuto anche con il nome di "Draculea", parte per salvaguardare la propria terra. Tornato in patria vittorioso, scopre che l'adorata moglie Elisabeta, ricevuta la falsa notizia della sua morte in battaglia, inviata dai turchi per vendicarsi della sconfitta, si è tolta la vita gettandosi da una torre del castello. Alle parole del sacerdote che sentenziano la dannazione eterna di Elisabeta in quanto suicida, Vlad, accecato dall'ira e dal dolore, rinnega Dio e la Chiesa che aveva difeso, scatenando le forze del male e trasformandosi così nel vampiro Dracula.

In 1462, Vlad the Impaler, a member of the Order of the Dragon, returns from a Night Attack at Târgovişte to find his wife Elisabeta having committed suicide after receiving a false report of his death. The priest proceeds to tell him that his wife's soul is condemned for committing suicide. Enraged, Dracula desecrates the chapel and renounces his faith, declaring that he will rise from the grave to avenge Elisabeta with all the powers of darkness. He then stabs the chapel's stone cross with his sword and drinks the blood that pours out of it.
