After the death of her father Ludwig Count of Reventlow, a former district administrator in Husum, she finally breaks with the whole family. The 22-year-old rushes to an elderly friend from the enlightened and rebellious group of Lubeck Ibsen Club. With borrowed money, they drive to Munich in order to go to art college.
