The film is based on real events about a group of young employees of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla who go mountain climbing to La Malinche (volcano) and have to spend the night in a small town called San Miguel Canoa, where they are confused for communist students. The right-wing town priest encourages the people to lynch them.
