1973: Krupp, Germany's industrial steel giant, is verging on bankruptcy. Berthold Beitz, the company's CEO for over 20 years, hopes to save it by giving it a new face. He commissions Golo Mann, son of the famed author Thomas, to pen the biography of Krupp's founder. But the more the historian digs into the past, the more his focus shifts to Beitz's own story. During WWll, he saved hundreds of Jews in occupied Poland and is still haunted by those he couldn't save. How can he reconcile that with saving the nation's former armory. A moral dilemma between conscience and commerce and two very different men. Beitz is forced to confront and accept his past and, once he does, becomes a beacon of hope for post-war Germany.
