钱玫瑰(张曼玉 饰)是一个保险经纪，由于职业的原因，她表面是一个牙尖嘴利又贪财的人，其实玫瑰在生活中缺乏安全感渴望牢靠的感情。一次偶然的机会，玫瑰结识了黑社会老大罗伊（张耀扬 饰），跟他兜售保险。罗伊平日混迹黑道，成天喊打喊杀，但内心却和玫瑰一样期望安定温暖的生活。日日相处下来，二人从一对斗气冤家渐渐变成了情投意合的知己。好景不长，罗伊遭到仇家追杀，为了不连累玫瑰，他远走他乡。玫瑰十分挂念罗伊，紧跟着去探望，岂料让人难以接受的一幕竟然就发生在玫瑰眼前……罗伊是否能大难不死？玫瑰和罗伊的感情又将何去何从？
