The most valuable exhibits were stolen from the village Museum, to the great regret of its Director and restorer, the artist Berezhkov, who came with his wife from the city. The perpetrator is known to be a tall man with a large Shoe size. Among the suspicious persons are rude and unconscious Covenanters who are building a silo, a drunken sailor who has left the ship, a local alcoholic, a kind of last of the Mohicans, a Verka-Kosaya, and a certain Sidorov. Everyone is spied on by the detective-mad Buttercup. Who robbed the Museum?
