Podczas wakacji spędzanych na luksusowym liniowcu Alvin, Szymon, Teodor i wiewióretki starają się rozkołysać statek swoim jedynym w swoim rodzaju humorem i figlami. Lecz sprawy przybierają nieoczekiwany obrót, gdy gang wypada za burtę i wszyscy lądują na odludnej wyspie, którą szybko przekształcają w swój nowy, tropikalny plac zabaw. Wyspa jednak nie jest wcale tak opuszczona jak się wcześniej wydawało.

Las ardillas se embarcan en un crucero de lujo y acaban en una isla desierta, pero pronto averiguarán que no está tan desierta como parece.

En vacances sur un bateau de croisière, Alvin, Simon, Théodore et les Chipettes font les 400 coups. Mais leurs bêtises vont les faire échouer tous les six sur une île paradisiaque, à première vue déserte. Pendant que Dave essaie désespérément de les retrouver, une autre naufragée, Zoé, bien plus audacieuse et givrée que les Chipmunks, va les entrainer dans leur première grande aventure : un nouveau territoire, de nouveaux défis et de grosses frayeurs vont révéler les vrais caractères de nos chanteurs hors pairs préférés.

David Seville, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and The Chipettes go on a vacation on a Carnival Dream. The Chipmunks and the Chipettes, especially Alvin, end up creating pandemonium. Later that night, after Dave leaves to eat at the captain's table and apologize for Alvin's behavior, Alvin sneaks out to the ship's casino, followed by Simon, who hopes to keep Alvin out of further exposure; meanwhile the Chipettes go to the ship's dance club, leaving Theodore alone in the room, watching an unsuitable monster movie. Dave discovers that his old boss, Alvin and the Chipmunks#Ian Hawke, is working as the ship's safety monitor dressed as a pelican, and is out to inform the captain if the Chipmunks and Chipettes cause more problems. Simon and Alvin are eventually caught in the casino, and are brought back to the room, along with the Chipettes, and all are accused by Dave for not being trustworthy. The next day, Alvin goes para-sailing on a kite, but the kite flies away with him and the other Chipmunks. Dave goes on a hang-glider to find them, but Ian attempts to stop him, and they both end up in the Pacific Ocean.

Os irmãos Alvin, Simon e Theodore partem em uma viagem de cruzeiro juntamente com Dave (Jason Lee) e as esquiletes, formadas por Eleanor, Jeanette e Brittany. Durante a viagem Alvin quer se divertir, enquanto que Dave tenta ter algum controle sobre os esquilos. Numa de suas brincadeiras Alvin acaba em uma asa delta, que o leva, juntamente com os irmãos e as esquiletes, para uma ilha. Dave parte atrás deles usando outra asa delta e acaba carregando consigo Ian (David Cross), o ex-empresário dos esquilos que agora trabalha vestindo a roupa de um pelicano, para entreter os passageiros do cruzeiro.
