Lorsqu’on leur vole un distributeur d’engrais qu’ils avaient emprunté sans permission à la coopérative, ils se retrouvent en difficulté. Un agriculteur les accuse d’avoir vendu la machine et empoché le gain, ce contre quoi Anaïs se défend bec et ongles. Elle essaie de maintenir la ferme à flot et de remotiver son père, prêt à jeter l’éponge et à vendre. Partie à la recherche du véritable coupable, elle se lie d’amitié avec Bruno, un travailleur saisonnier qu’elle soupçonne être l’auteur du vol.
