Mina, jeune Éthiopienne de 13 ans, a été adoptée à sa naissance par Judith et Lionel, un couple uni, déjà parents d'une fille biologique. La famille est alors unie et heureuse. Mais l'adolescence va faire basculer Mina dans une spirale destructrice contre laquelle elle ne peut rien et se muer en une boule d'agressivité qui va diviser toute la famille. La jeune fille devient fugue et rejette ses parents. Le traumatisme de l'abandon se transforme en violence. L'amour et la bienveillance de ses parents suffiront-ils à panser ses blessures et à apaiser ses souffrances ?
Judith e Lionel, due coniugi che hanno già una figlia propria, hanno adottato Mina dall'Etiopia. Sebbene fosse stata abbandonata da piccola, Mina non sembra avere avuto conseguenze psicologiche dalla cosa. Mina was adopted from Ethiopia by Judith and Lionel, a married couple who already were the parents of a biological daughter. Though she was abandoned by her mother as a baby, it didn't really seem to have much of an impact on her. But when Mina turns thirteen, an identity crisis takes a hold of the girl. She is caught between two worlds - and feels nowhere at home. Mina snaps and descends into a destructive downwards spiral. Jealous of her non-adopted sister, she starts acting out, pitting her father and mother against each other and thereby dividing the entire family. Judith and Lionel don't know what to do. Will their parental love and kindness be enough to heal Mina's wounds?
