全身を縛られたまま“餓死”させられるという不可解な連続殺人事件が発生。捜査線上に浮かび上がったのは、過去に起こした事件で服役し、出所したばかりの利根という男。刑事の笘篠は利根を追い詰めていくが、決定的な確証がつかめないまま、第三の事件が起きようとしていた。
なぜ、このような無残な殺し方をしたのか？利根の過去に何があったのか？さまざまな想いが交錯する中、やがて事件の裏に隠された、切なくも衝撃の真実が明らかになっていく。
Nine years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, grisly murders occur in the urban area of Miyagi Prefecture, where victims are tied up and left to starve. The victims all had reputations for being good men, men of integrity. Seiichiro Tomashino (Hiroshi Abe), from the First Investigation Division of Miyagi Prefectural Police, uncovers common ground between the two murders. Meanwhile, Yasuhisa Tone (Takeru Satoh), surfaces as a suspect in the investigation. Tone, who had been serving time for committing arson and assault while trying to help out a friend, was a model prisoner who had just been released. While police are unable to find conclusive evidence to implicate him, a third murder occurs.
