In 1991, a group of counter-cultural visionaries build an enormous replica of earth’s ecosystem called Biosphere 2 in the hopes that they could form a self-sustaining living enclosure that could have futuristic applications. However, when the eight “biospherians” participants are sealed inside the airtight Arizona desert vivarium, they are faced with ecological calamities and accusations that they are in a cult.
