The Sooty franchise is focused upon the adventures of Sooty, a fictional glove puppet character created by magician and puppeteer Harry Corbett in the 1950s, alongside his other friends Sweep and Soo. Although fundamentally focused upon programmes for British children's television, Sooty also incorporates stage shows, both of which make use of a mixture of slapstick comedy, prop comedy – ranging from gunge, cream pies and water pistols – magic tricks, and music. All routines in both are primarily aimed at providing family-friendly entertainment suitable for young children. In addition, the franchise also include merchandising, ranging from annuals to toys. One such product that was sold was a toy musical instrument – referred to as a "xylophone", but in reality a toy glockenspiel – based upon the same instrument use by Sooty up until the 1980s
The Sooty Show is a British children's television series that aired on BBC Television from 1955 until 1967, and on ITV from 1968-1992 It features the glove puppet characters Sooty, Sweep (who first appeared in 1957) and Soo (first appeared in 1964), and follows them in their many mischievous adventures. The show was presented from the 1955 to 1975 by Harry Corbett, and from 1976 to 1992 by his son, Matthew, as he bought the rights for Sooty for £35,000 from his father, and acted as the token human being. In 1981, The Sooty Show changed from a sketch-based format with a studio audience into a more sitcom-based format set in the Sooteries cottage.
Learn with Sooty! is part of a British children's television series The Sooty Show promoting educational videos for children to learn from 1989 to 1991. Sooty is a British children's television series that was produced for three series, that aired on ITV from 5 November 2001 to 6 January 2004. It replaced Sooty Heights, but remained the same setup of Sooty and the gang running a hotel, which saw a major re-vamp and later a change of name to 'Hotel Sooty'. It was presented by Richard Cadell and Vicki Lee Taylor.
Richard takes Sooty, Sweep and Soo to the seaside. Once there, they enter a talent show, help out on Mo's doughnut stall and ride the roller coaster, whilst being chased by a security guard! In true Sooty style, nothing goes according to plan in this feature length special!

It was filmed largely at Richard Cadell's theme park in Somerset It also saw the return of the miniature bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen sets as well as the camper-van. Scampi, Butch and Ramsbottom will made a few background roles. A variety of celebrity guest stars include former presenter Matthew Corbett, Frank Bruno, Justin Lee Collins, Paul Daniels, Debbie McGee, Keith Chegwin, Ann Widdecome, Ken Morley, Norman Barrett, Stacey Solomon, Brendan Cole, and Nicola Marie Bloor. Co-writers Wink Taylor and Alex Skerratt, as well as Richard's brother, David Cadell and Soo's voice artist, Brenda Longman, make a few uncredited cameo appearances.
