Ireland is the green island on the edge of Europe where it often rains, where there is a lot of singing and where sectarian violence easily flared up until recently. Tom Egbers does not know much more than that about the country that his grandfather's grandfather had to flee around 1850 because of the famine. Tom wants to get to know the country of his Irish ancestors. He soon discovers that Ireland is in full swing. It escapes the pressure of the Catholic Church and finally manages to withstand the centuries-long rule of the English. But just when the future looks so hopeful, England decides to Brexit. This will undoubtedly have very serious consequences for the Irish. For trade, migration, but also for the simmering conflicts between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
