'북극의 눈물' 후속 시리즈로 지구의 허파 아마존이 사막화되어가는 과정을 담은 다큐멘터리이다. 아마존의 산림 파괴로 고통 받는 인디오들과 열대밀림 생물들의 모습을 담았으며 배우 김남길이 내레이션을 맡았다. 2009년 12월 18일에 프롤로그가 처음 방송되었으며, 첫 방송에서 시청률 15.7%(TNS미디어코리아)를 기록했다. 다큐멘터리로서 매우 높은 시청률을 기록해 화제가 되기도 했다. 프롤로그와 본편 3부작, 에필로로그, 총 5회로 구성되어 있다.
