Strip The City uses stunning CGI animation and expedition - driven actuality to strip major cities naked of their steel, concrete, air, ocean and bedrock - layer by layer, act by act - to explore their hidden infrastructure and solve key mysteries surrounding their origins, geology, archaeology, industry, weather and engineering. Each episode will explore six iconic features of each city - one per act. Each icon will take us a layer deeper into the city. They will range from man - made skyscrapers and metro systems to natural dunes and lakes.

C’est à une véritable séance d’effeuillage des grandes villes de la planète que convie cette série "Les dessous de". Un procédé d’animation original permet en effet, pour chacune d’entre elles, de déconstruire ses monuments, de percer les mystères de ses bâtiments, de soulever ses rues ou de pénétrer dans son sous-sol. Chaque couche retirée donne des clés pour mieux comprendre les spécificités et les problématiques propres à la ville étudiée. Situation géographique, géologie, archéologie, climat ou encore techniques de construction sont ainsi passés en revue de manière à bien saisir son histoire et son évolution.

“Città ai raggi X” mostra le basi geologiche, architettoniche e tecnologiche su cui sono state costruite le più grandi città del mondo. Grazie all’aiuto della computer grafica, che ci permette di indagare attraverso muri e strade e di sondare oceani e fiumi, scopriamo le infrastrutture nascoste che giacciono sotto città come Londra, Roma, Dubai, Sydney, Toronto e San Francisco. I maggiori esperti in campo ingegneristico e geologico ci rivelano il complesso design e le innovative tecnologie che consentono il funzionamento delle grandi metropoli. Dalla vasta rete metropolitana di Londra fino ai grattacieli a prova di tempeste di neve di Toronto, scopriamo le meraviglie geologiche e infrastrutturali che hanno trasformato le città e le vite dei loro abitanti.
