Hlavním záměrem tohoto seriálu bylo seznámit diváky nejen s dílem, ale také se životem Karla Hašlera. Až dosud byla vždy pozornost věnována jeho písničkám. Život Hašlera byl tabu jak za německé okupace, tak posléze za totalitního režimu. Byl to vlastenec tělem i duší, nenávidějící Rakousko-uherskou monarchii, německý fašismus a stejně tak ruský bolševismus. Proto měl problémy nejen za svého života, ale i po své smrti, třebaže položil život za vlast a byl umučen v koncentračním táboře.
