東京オリンピック開催の年１９６４年８月３１日に放送を開始し、ウィークリーの番組としては日本で最長寿番組となる『ＭＵＳＩＣ ＦＡＩＲ』。国内はもとより世界各国から一流ミュージシャンが出演し、この番組でしか実現出来ない世代を超えた共演、海外のアーティストとのコラボレーション等、多彩なゲストを迎えている。視聴者の音楽趣向が目まぐるしく変わる現在でも、本当にいい音楽を流行にとらわれず紹介し、歌の素晴らしさを前面に押し出すという一貫した番組作りで今もなお親しまれている。
